Action – Lane Cleanse Litterpick Completed

Following a request from a local resident regarding an accumilation of waste and litter in the lanes, the Briton Ferry Action team carried out a small lane cleanse to 5 lanes in Briton Ferry today. One part of the route was met with a challenging clean that involved a large accumilation that is a known problem spot in Briton Ferry, on one of the lanes behind Hoo Street. A total of 12 Bags of waste were eventually cleaned from the lanes in just over 2 hours. Sad to say just 4 weeks after McDonalds completed a full lane clean of the area on their litterpick.

While the best was done to try completely clean this area, due to the high levels of waste here, a complete clean was not possible. On Speaking local residents , we were informed that there has been an extended wait for the council to take action on this area, with waste enforcement also being involved. Although we are aware this is a key problem spot with waste being re-depositied in the area almost immediately after it being cleaned on previous occasions.

We will soon be actively looking for members of the community to help us keep the community clean, if you would be interested please sign up to our “Street Supporter” scheme where we will soon be able to tackle wider community issues together.

Below you can see some images of Before and after the clean… Thanks to all those involved in helping with the clean!
